United East Athletic Association

United East Athletic Association (UEAA) is a non-profit (501C3) organization serving the Asian community for over 30 years. It offers both athletic and educational programs like dragon boat racing, lion dance training, table tennis, badminton, basketball, soccer, volleyball and Chinese chess. Its lion dance program has trained hundreds of performers who have been featured in many special events and celebrations.

The lion is believed to drive away evil spirits and bad omens, and bring with it good fortune, wealth, health and happiness. Traditionally, the lion dance was performed during Lunar New Year to scare away the man eating monster Nian and bring good luck to the village. Today, lion dances can be found at any celebration; weddings, anniversaries, parades, grand openings, etc.
