The Food: This restaurant’s name implies Thai cuisine, but what they really serve up is authentic Vietnamese fare at more then fair prices. Compare and contrast the quality and taste of summer rolls with spring rolls. The soft fresh and cool summer rolls filled with vermicelli, shrimp, scallions and mint are a total opposite to the crunchy fried hot springs rolls wrapped with an extra crispy layer of lettuce. The ‘pho’ or noodle soups are an excellent choice as well. Each bowl starts with the same basic stock, noodles, and garnish; the real treat is the extras that range from barbecue pork chops and beef brisket to fish balls and seafood. If you’re in a mood for a sandwich, their “banh mi” is made to order and is filled with loads of meat and vegetables on a crisp French baguette. Accent your meal with Vietnamese coffee which ‘brews’ right at the table into your mug which is pre-filled with condensed milk. The Atmosphere: Crowds gather at this authentic Vietnamese restaurant for their superb Vietnamese food. The dim lighting and relaxing ambiance evokes a tropical laid-back feel of Southern Vietnam complete with bamboo huts and trees. Waiters clad in green shirts swiftly and expertly move through the crowded tables with platters of hot food balanced on both hands. Featured in: New York Times, Time Out New York, Menupages.com
