You cannot walk past Oriental Garden without peering into the wall sized sparkling clean tanks in the front of the restaurant. If something catches your eye, you can have it on your plate for dinner. The live seafood is seasonal, but if you’re lucky, you can order the Coral Shrimp from Canada, the Sea Bass from Hong Kong, the giant Alaskan King Crab or the overgrown lobster from Australia. When it comes to seafood that’s this fresh, keeping it simple is the best way to go. Order it steamed, with soy sauce and ginger, to truly appreciate the taste of the freshest seafood in town.
The restaurant also serves great dim sum (daily to 3:00PM). What you can’t find on the pushcart can be readily made to order by the experienced chefs. If they have it in stock, you can get it on your plate, cooked to perfection.
Oriental Garden ranks a notch higher then most of Chinatown’s restaurants. The interior is clean and well lit, the staff is professional and the seafood is as fresh as it gets - fish and crustaceans are swimming in the clean tanks in front. It is pricier then its counterparts in Chinatown, but once you taste the seafood, you will know it is well worth it. Try your best to plan ahead and make reservations, especially during the holidays.
