Elevator Servicers and Repairers Recruit Apprentices

Long Island City, NY (May 25, 2016) - The Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee for of the Elevator Industry, Local Union #3, will conduct a recruitment from June 27, 2016 through July 09, 2016 for 75 elevator servicer and repairer apprentices, the New York State Department of Labor announced today.

Applications can be obtained at Local Union #3, 35-40 36th Street, 2nd floor, Long Island City, NY, Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., excluding legal holidays, during the recruitment period. All applicants must present a valid picture ID issued by a city, state, or federal government agency. This is a limited-application recruitment. Only 750 applications will be distributed, on a first-come, first-served basis. Applications must be returned via U.S. Postal Service certified mail and postmarked no later than July 18, 2016. Applications will be numbered and must correspond with the name and number of the application given to the applicant at time of pick-up.

The meeting was the first of a summertime series of community initiatives planned by the owner of the shop, Mei Lum, who is continuing the family business and injecting new life into it.
