Hell no, she better not go!

Lawmakers and activists gathered in lower Manhattan Saturday to press city officials to keep the "Fearless Girl" statue as a permanent installation.

Pearl River's artist-in-residence series, ft photographer Louis Chan's acclaimed series of photographs exploring the New York City Chinese immigrant experience. Titled, My Home, exhibition will be on display in Pearl River's mezzanine level, 395 Broadway. The exhibition features a collection of large-scale photographs capturing the often cramped and crowded living spaces of Chinese immigrants that represent culture, identity and psyche in a very personal way. Known for addressing socio-economic issues in his work, Louis began the project in 2011 to chronicle how Chinese immigrants assimilate-or resist assimilation-and how they reconcile their dual Chinese and American identities.

In the early 1980s, the photographer Bud Glick worked for the New York Chinatown History Project (NYCHP) - today the Museum of Chinese in America (MOCA) - capturing the lives of the neighborhood's denizens. From intimate portraits of people in their apartments to documentary-style pictures of the activities that filled the streets, his photographs record an older generation's experiences of Chinatown, just as it was undergoing a transformation from an influx of immigrants and young families seeking fresh futures.

In New York City, there's a place on almost every block where you can buy a bag of chips or a lottery ticket. Elsewhere, it's called a corner store. But in the Big Apple, it's known as a bodega.
